The horror sword attack at the HTS Nick Diedericks School by an 18-year-old school boy yesterday, has sent cold shivers down the spine of every parent - “how could a child get so lost, that he would commit such a pre-meditated act of violence? Were there no signs? Did his friends, parents and teachers no notice anything?”

This morning, Jacaranda 94.2 news reporter, Marisa Oosthuizen spoke to one of his friends, a 14-year old girl, who described the attacker as a quiet, friendly person, who made her feel at home when she first enrolled at the school earlier this year. A mother says the boy was on his way to school assembly, to attack as many children as possible. He killed one boy on the way to the hall, wounded a second and also attacked to gardeners.

According to police, the 18-year-old suspect has not been formally charged and has until tomorrow morning to appear in court.

While some are blaming the music the suspect listened to, that include music from the band Slipknot, other are saying Satanism played a role in the attack.

Was it the music the suspected attacker listened to, his upbringing, possible turmoil in his past, Satanism, drugs or maybe peer pressure that led to such a shocking attack?
